There are four nature parks in the direct vicinity and further afield, which can offer you and your family numerous hiking opportunities and a great panorama The Dolomites are literally within reach. You can hike, mountain bike and climb to your heart's content there.
A nature park straight out of a picture book – there are numerous waterfalls, mountain streams and lakes here, e.g. Lago di Anterselva/Antholzer See at the end of the Valle di Anterselva/Antholzertal, the third largest natural lake in South Tyrol. The Vedrette di Ries-Aurina/Rieserferner-Ahrn nature park extends over an area of more than 31 hectares and also impresses with its rich animal world: eagles, marmots, deer, chamois and more can be discovered here if you just look very carefully. Leisurely hikes in the fresh South Tyrolean mountain air are a dream here.
This nature park extends over more than 25 hectares, its high altitude areas are extremely popular for hikes and mountain tours. Lago di Braies/Pragser Wildsee, which is considered to be the most beautiful lake in the Dolomites, is also situated here and is a great excursion destination for the whole family. When you look at the deep blue lake with the high mountains towering above it, you suddenly become very aware of the beauty of the Dolomites and nature in generally, simply magical.
The Puez Odle/Puez-Geisler nature park extends over 10 hectares from Val Gardena/Gröden all the way to Alta Badia and boasts an incredible diversity of plants and animals. The nature park is situated at an average 2,500 m altitude and you can find an exhibition about the geology of the Dolomites and a collection of bird nests, antlers and animal skins, which are particularly worth seeing for children, in the visitors' centre that was opened in S. Maddalena/St. Magdalena in Funes/Villnöß in 2009.
The Three Peaks nature park extends over an area of more than 11 hectares around Dobbiaco/Toblach, San Candido/Innichen and Sesto/Sexten and used to be called the Sesto/Sexten Dolomites nature park. The nature park was renamed after the famous landmark of the Dolomites that can be found here, the Three Peaks (2,999 m), in 2010.
